IN THE NEWS-3

The Rome Group's book club offers a space for our team to explore books that inspire personal and professional growth.

This quarter, the TRG team is reading Strangers in the Land: Exclusion, Belonging, and the Epic Story of the Chinese in America by Michael Luo. The book traces the history of Chinese Americans from the Gold Rush through the mid-20th century, uncovering the brutality of mob attacks, the persistence of racism, and the restrictive legislation epitomized by the Chinese Exclusion Act. Sparked by Luo's own experience of racism, the book is both a sweeping history and a reflection on belonging in America.
